Communication
Communication is one of the most important tools any young professional can possess. It is important because it allows you to be understood and understand others by writing and speaking in an influential, persuasive and articulate way. Effective communication can also be in the form of graphics, charts and spreadsheets for supportive measures and by the ability to listen actively in group and individual settings.
_What I did
The document attached below is an A3 report developed in my “Business Cornerstone” class. The task of this assignment was to work within a group to create an in-depth business plan including a business description, situational analysis, competitive analysis and market analysis. Due to the detail of each section the A3 report is designed to communicate quickly the main points of the report in an effective manner, so that the busy readers (Microsoft executives) can retain a lot of information about the report with a minimal amount of time spent reading.
In summary the report is a study for Microsoft Corporation. As a team we had to research and identify reoccurring problems with one of Microsoft’s products and then provide solutions with reasoning. After thorough research, my team and I picked the Xbox 360 as our product.
The attached A3 report communicates quickly and effectively the same information that you would find in the fifty-three pages of the written report. Through the use of clear headings that can be used for skimming, diagrams for visual effects and bullet points the necessary information is available to the reader giving them a good grasp of the entire report.
Why it Matters
The A3 report proves my ability to communicate complex information in a summarized format which communicates the essence of the entire report within two A3 pages by using of graphs and charts.
The solutions prove that I can analyze information and come up with a plan of action and recommendations, showing that I can communicate reasoning for my beliefs.
This document proves that I have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively.
